Eric Update

As some of you may know one of my pet projects at the moment is a comedy sci-fi novel entitled ‘Eric and the Theory of Everything’. It;s been in progress for a couple of years now, and I’m now working on it hard, with a view to having it sent off to agents/publishers later this year – hopefully by the autumn.

One of the most important rules when writing a book is to write what you know. The other rule is to write the sort of book you’d want to read yourself.

Whether one can know about a Theory of Everything I’m not sure, but I do know a pretty decent amount about Eric, and this book is definitely the sort of thing I enjoy reading, especially given the several shelves in my study dedicated to comedy sci-fi.

At the moment Eric is looking at putting into practice a theory propounded by the Committee for Absurd Theories (CAT), a subject on which the book offers the following information:

Eric & The Theory of Everything (Extract)
“Although not actually a necessary requirement for entry into the CAT, it is nonetheless generally considered a clear indication of a potential member’s suitability if they have the sort of social skills roughly equivalent to a dead quarkon (a type of small rodent who, by some bizarre twist of quantum mechanics, exists in two states simultaneously: facing both forwards, and backwards. This inevitably means that its face and anus exist in the same relative space, resulting in a somewhat poor representation of grace, beauty or good table manners.)”

Further extracts and details about the book and its progress will be published on this book in future. Make sure you bookmark this blog!

Incidentally, if anyone is interested in adopting a quarkon please use the hashtag #savethequarkons on Twitter, or tweet me @JSArnold_Author
